Behind the Scenes of The Patient's Daughter
The character Zoe Furr, a single boarder in my story, draws inspiration from a real acquaintance known for her peculiar habits. She spent weekends clandestinely exploring open houses, relishing the quirks and decorating blunders of homes she had no intention of buying. This hobby made her unwelcome in my home.
Zoe, also a magician in her own right, would disappear when faced with workplace conflicts. Her strategy involved arriving late, after the issues were being resolved. Despite her aversion to conflict, she often raged about what she was going to do or say, without taking any action.
Zoe's idiosyncrasies add depth and intrigue to the story.
The museum setting where Zoe works mirrors the Henry B. Plant museum. This 1891 Tampa Bay Hotel, is a historic Florida tourist destination.
