2021 Florida Book Awards Bronze Medalist - A Killer's Daughter
Florida Book Awards - Bronze medal in Popular Fiction 2021
April 7 at Cascade Park, Tallahasee
Jenna's 2021 psychological thriller, A Killer's Daughter, won the bronze medal in the Florida Book Awards for Popular Fiction. Jenna attended the awards banquet in Tallahassee to receive her award.
The awards banquet was hosted by the Abitz family and held at The Cascades in Tallahassee on April 8, 2021. The keynote speaker was Florida Secretary of State Laurel Lee who spoke about the importance of books and reading as well as her mother’s influence on her love of books.
My table mate, Lena Juarez from JEJ & Associates, waved over the Secretary of State and I was very pleased to have a chance to chat with Laurel Lee and even more thrilled when she purchased a copy of A Killer’s Daughter which I was chuffed to sign.
The book signing followed the dinner. The next day, Midtown Readers, the lovely independent bookstore, operated by Sally Bradshaw, that hosted both book signings and made our books available during the Word of [South] Festival that weekend, hosted a lovely breakfast for the winners. We had a chance to see their store, chat with other winners and enjoy a lovely breakfast in midtown Tallahassee.
I need to thank my publisher, Bookouture, for entering me in this contest which celebrate books written by Florida authors, and for sending my books to the judges.
The weekend ended with an author chat on the Midtown Reader Stage with gold medalist, Noel Zamot, hosted by Judge Terry Lewis (also an author) and who did a great job of keeping our panel moving and helping us field questions from the audience.
This event ran with the Word of [South], a festival of literature and music, so another high point was attending some of the musical artists performances and author chats, including one by Meg Gardiner.
This was my first trip to our state Capital, and I enjoyed every minute.
